Initial consultation
FREE
I offer a free 30-minute consultation via phone or online, giving us the opportunity to talk about what’s bringing you here, how I work, and what you’re hoping to achieve through counselling. It’s an opportunity designed to help you get a sense of how it feels to connect and to see if we’re a good fit, with no obligation to continue. Alternatively, you can choose to book your first session directly and begin the process right away.

FAQs
What is a therapy session like?
You can choose to have sessions online, in person, or a combination of both. Each session lasts 50 minutes and is a dedicated space for you. You’re welcome to bring whatever feels important to you in that moment, whether it’s thoughts, feelings, or challenges you’d like to explore. Our work together will be guided by your goals and needs, and we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
What will my first session be like?
The first session is a chance for us to connect and understand what’s bringing you here. We’ll explore the support you’re seeking, your counselling goals, and how we might work together. You’re welcome to share at your own pace—there’s no need to cover everything right away. I’ll also walk you through how the process works, answer any questions, and go over practical details like confidentiality. Most importantly, it’s an opportunity for you to experience the space and see if it feels like the right fit.
How often will I need therapy?
I generally recommend weekly sessions, as they help build a trusting relationship and maintain continuity in your therapy, but I also offer flexibility, including fortnightly sessions, to accommodate different circumstances. Sessions usually take place at the same time each week, though adjustments can be made if required. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about this.
How long will I need therapy?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to how long therapy might last, as every client’s needs are different. I work in an open-ended way, allowing clients to continue counselling for as long as they feel it’s helpful. However, I understand that this isn’t always possible for practical or financial reasons, so if you have a set number of sessions in mind, we can tailor the therapy to suit your needs.
What notice is required if I want to end therapy?
You are always in control of whether to continue or pause your sessions. If you feel ready to take a break or bring our work to a close, you are welcome to do so at any time. Whenever possible, I encourage us to discuss it together—whether it’s a planned ending or a change in what you need. This allows us to reflect on the progress made and bring a thoughtful close to the process. Rest assured, your choice will always be respected.
Is everything I say confidential?
I follow the BACP Ethical Framework, which means everything you share with me is treated with care and kept confidential. There are a few situations where confidentiality may need to be broken, for example, if I believe you or someone else could be at risk of serious harm, if there are concerns about abuse or neglect, or if a legal authority requires information. Whenever possible, I will talk with you first before any disclosure, so you understand what is happening. My priority is always to respect your privacy while keeping you and others safe.
